Piano music, portraits and poetry
Today's post shares some of my favourite music, lots of art and a little bit of craft. Here are five things I've found fun this week:
๐น It's been a busy week in many respects, so I've been enjoying the calm of Ludovico Einaudi's Underwater. I love listening to this while writing, or doing anything else that needs a little peace and focus.
๐ผ๏ธ This year I've been trying different things in my writing, including a few online writing sessions with the National Portrait Gallery, part of The Smithsonian Institution in the United States of America. Because of the time difference, I've been able to join these sessions in the morning, just before starting work. Each session there's a portrait as a visual prompt, together with a matched playlist and a bit of background on the image, sitter and artist. I've found it both educational and a nice creative way to start the day.
๐ Speaking of creative ways to start the day, have you heard about Creative Mornings? I've been watching lots of their Virtual Field Trips and one that stood out this week was on Ransom Poetry. I've also done a quick refresher on graphic design basics and a workshop on creative gift ideas. All good fun.
๐๏ธ For more daily art inspiration, I have The Metropolitan Museum of Art's desk calendar. This was my favourite artwork this week. Perhaps not my usual style, but the colours appealed to me. How do you bring art into your week? I'd love to know.
๐งถ In between the busyness, I managed to squeeze in a quick bit of knitting. I wouldn't say I've mastered knitting yet, but I can see a definite improvement.
So that's my week of five fun and creative things! If you enjoyed this post, please subscribe or share โ๏ธ
