Tiny tomatoes, bright flowers and cute libraries
This week I've been getting a bit arty and enjoying summer sunshine and flowers. Here are 5 things I found fun:
šØ I took a 2-hour online class in painting watercolour flowers. It was surprising how much you could learn in such a short class. I learnt why the right paper is important, how to choose materials, and several brush techniques to create leaves and petals. (You can see some of my efforts in the featured image.) It was actually quite relaxing and I think I will keep playing around with watercolour painting.
š» Also on the flower theme, I caught up with a friend at the Mount Lofty Botanic Garden and there are some bright sunflowers out at the moment.
š These are not from my garden, but I came across what claim to be the world's tiniest tomatoes. I had to try them! Spoiler: they just taste like regular tomatoes, but they're way cuter and more fun.
š Speaking of cute things, around my neighbourhood there are these little Street Libraries where people can share and borrow books. Many of them are decorated (my nearest one looks like a yellow submarine) and I've found 4 or 5 within walking distance of my place. Occasionally, I've also spotted some when I've been on holiday in various regional towns. Maybe one day I'll venture further afield and find some more. Is there a Street Library near you?
šļø Visiting my local public library this week delivered lots of new things to read and try. Expect fancy lettering and origami flowers appearing in this newsletter soon.
Wishing you a fun and creative week! š©š¼āšØ
